We started off with using hand grips... 8 grips in front of your hips, 8 to the side, 8 with arms out at shoulder level, 8 straight out in front then starting again in front of the hips. We did it 3 or 4 times, the last time double speed!

Nex we did sit-ups and push ups with a number of exercises fo core strength. Again it was 15 sit ups, 16 elbows to knees (legs cycling), 15 counts balancing on yout bum in a v shape, 15 counts balancing in the push up position, 8 wide arm push ups, 8 shoulder width hands push ups. We did that about 4 times... very very painful

Next we used weights...8 lifts, 3 different starting positions... we did the sequence 3 times. Then it was 3 lots of squats holding the weights!

I have never been so glad to move onto pole conditioning in my life

We did an hour of conditioning, which ranged from pull ups to spins and holds. I really surprised myself being able to hold myself in the swan hold (legs in a V shape held off the ground with one arm up the top of the pole, the other at waist height) and then move to a position where I have the same arm grip but my legs are in a v shape out front... I moved from one to the other without touching the floor <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">

We finished off with 30 minutes stretching which was a welcome relief after working hard

The lesson was friday night and I am still aching a little today!! And I have my level 3 lesson tonight! Hopefully doing these 2 at the same time means I'll be perfect and able to move on in 6 weeks

We went through the stuff we had been covering in level three, got taught a level 4 move called the V sit... you sit on the pole, right arm, bent, grabbing the pole in front of you, the left hand grabs the pole under your bum, you lean back a little, extend legs so they are straight and raise them so the body is in a V shape, then open legs into a V shape!! It was rather hard but I managed it! Not properly as its a new move but I managed to release my legs into a small V shape

I also managed to do the eagle I know exactly what I am doing wrong so I can work on it! I am now confident thatr I will ba able to move on after my September courses

And now I have no lessons for 3 week I will have to try and book my level 3 course in september to go along with pole addicts but I am not sure when i will be able to! I am hoping it doesn't get sold out!!

 Comments

Workshop...

I had the first lesson of level 3 workshop last thursday It was really good and I enjoyed it so much! I can't understand why I enjoyed it a bit more than usual, I just did I managed to do all my moves ok, except the problems move typically

And on saturday my mate came to visit. She helped me with the eagle and laughed because I was getting into position and immediately bouncing out But I practiced it a fair few times and managed to do it and hold it ok! It was quite strange to stare at the tv upside down though

The second and last lesson of the workshop is this week, and then I have 2 weeks before Pole Addicts start (did I mention its half hour od weights, one hour of pole strengthening exercises using the pole and half an hour of stretching?? ) I shall be booking my next course after thursday too, probably a level 3 one but I am not really too sure right now! I would prefer to move onto level 4 but as the saying goes you can't run before you can walk!!

It was a lot of fun, even if I am crap at freestyle and choreography!! I always forget moves, or there's not enough room to do the moves I remember

But I did manage to do my hangback with straight legs...THIS!! (Let me know if the link doesn't work for you as its facebook, and I'll change it ) I didn't stay up too long but I still did it, and even managed to roll up without pushing myself with a hand under my bum <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0"> <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">

This weekend my friend from school who does pole dancing is visiting.... should be soooo much fun <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0"> <img src="/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif" alt=":>" class="middle" border="0">

We had a few minutes to do what ever we wanted but my mind went blank

I did learn what I am doing wrong with my eagle though I need a weight on my right foot to keep it down and my hips up (look here, 6th row down, middle pic )

I am now completely shattered and am going to veg out for the moment! I am looking forward to the level 3 workshop on wednesday <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">

 Comments

Level 3/4 Technique!

Oooh its been a while! I keep meaning to update but the trouble in work meant I kept forgetting typical me!

anyway, level 3/4 technique has been great! My last lesson is this week. I am going to be a bit sad to see it end as we don't have any more proper courses til september! I do have a 2 week workshop starting next week!

So level3/4... I have been practicing all the moves I learnt in level 3, and a few more I have done a few more advanced things as well but because there aren't any level 4 people in the class we couldn't do level 4 stuff I did do the hangback (sit on pole, extend one leg, other crossed, and lean back to hang upside down) with 2 straight legs in one lesson! that was very hard!

I will hopefully be able to move onto level 4 after the workshop, if not, level 3 again but I definitely won't need to do it again after that! But I am in no real hurry so I don't really mind

Especially as I have signed up to another course in september called Pole Addict! It teaches other moves and short routines! This course is open to levels 2 and up so I think its one I could do over and over, each time learning different things

 Comments

Level 3 lessons 5 & 6

Last night was my last lesson of level 3 It was good though

Last week we learnt the very last part of the routine, practiced everything, especially the Eagle! Thats the only thing I am still struggling with, but I think it is only because we learnt that last. If we'd had it earlier in the course I think I would have been ok with it

Lesson 6 is usually demo day... all the students demo the routine and then the teacher does a demo for us... unfortunately Nat (or teacher) had injured herself so couldn't demo We ran out of time too!

We did a lot of practice last night, then those of us taking level 3 for the first time did a group demo, and those doing it for the second or third time did a solo demo...they all dressed up too, it was great! One girl wore a corset... I am soooo doing that next time

Anyhoo I tried to book the next level 3 class at the weekend but it was fully booked I am actually quite pleased about it because I spoke to Nat last night and she said I am advanced enough to take the level 3/4 technique class! She said do that and then take her level 4 class which is a rocky routine, which she thinks is a bit harder than the other level 4s, probably due to the beat and the speed!

So I shall try to book the level 3/4 technique class tonight. It starts next Saturday so not long to wait its a 4 week course because the school has a summer break. This class doesn't have a routine either (not at the moment, I think they are thinking of introducing one though ) its just moves! I want to go to a few practice session too, so in a few weeks hopefully I'll be ready for level 4

 Comments

Level 3 lesson4!

So we had the 4th lesson last night. Usually we learn the last part of the routine in this lesson but because they feel that level 3 is a big step up from level 2 they like us to do the course again before progressing. She seemed to think we'd take it another 2 times after this but I don't feel I need to. I think once more will benefit me but twice would be holding me back a little. It might sound big headed but I'm not doing too badly. In fact I am really holding my own and am better than some of those who have already done level 3 before! I know I am not brilliant, there's a lot to learn but I don't see the point in doing it twice more when I know I will be ready to move on well before they have finished Maybe I'll talk to the teacher next week to see what she says. The next level 3 course has no choreography as its only 4 weeks so there will be no demo at the end... although she did mention a level 3/4 course so maybe she'll let me move onto that after it

Anyhoo back to last night. We did a lot of practice of things we had already learnt and the new move, the eagle. I think I'll have this one down ok by the end of the course too We learnt most of the choreography and saw the rest, it is going to look great by the time its finished!

Oooh I had a thought, maybe I can practice the routine at home and by the end of the 4 week course I'll have it all down and she'll let me move on?! We'll see

Maybe I'll have a bit of a practice tonight, My pole will have to come down tonight too, as we have a visitor coming on Thursday!

 Comments

Level 3 Lesson 3!

In lesson 3 we did a few spins and worked on the inverts we have been practicing from the start! Mine are coming along quite nicely, I just need to remember to keep my legs straight and keep my thighs squeezed on the pole!

The spins were a pole climb spin... climbing on the pole, flinging a leg around and spinning with both legs straight and against the pole, another was called the flying step... flinging one leg across the body and the around the pole, front leg straight and back bent, both parallel with the floor, and the last was a sunwheel going into lotus position... legs out front and back both, bent, parallel with the floor then the back one straightens and comes around the front so you end up sitting! I may have to post a few more pictures as my descriptions don't do it justice!

So next week we learn the last few moves of the routine, one is an invert called the eagle.... (jumping upside down with legs in a V shape parallel to the floor and holding like that) which I actually had a little go of last night and I seemed to do it ok! I was probably holding the pole all wrong but at least I know I can get myself in that position for however short a time it was! I am looking forward to trying it properly next week

I guess that means I am having a good workout I must make sure I have a practice tomorrow after work too

We had some hard moves to do... we continued last weeks inverts, practicing them higher up the pole and with added bits on the end. We also did a move called an extension. We sat on the pole, brought both legs up straight with ankles crossed an leaned out so we were parallel with the floor. We will eventually do this with one hand! Eek! We did a spin, which I can't remember what its called now but it was basicaly swinging your whole body around the pole ending up in what we call the sunwheel position... legs parallel with the floor one in front, one behind, both bent elegantly! We also did more of the coreography, this week most of it was on the pole, something I haveb't had to do before!

It will be a great routine once its done We are dancing to Elvis's Fever at the moment

We were told that many people don't manage to advance to level for until they have completed level 3 2 or even 3 times! I hope I can move on to level 4 at the end of this, I guess I will have to practice A lot!!

Anyway, the first move we did was an invert! It was sitting on the pole, left lefg straight, right leg bent over it and hanging backwards, upside down on the pole. We only did it close to the floor, as many people hadn't even sat on the pole before! It was something my friend taught me many months ago so I got the hang of it quite quickly, and by the end of the night I was able to do this move a little further up the pole I am hoping I will be able to get a picture of this to post, it looks great!!

We also did a move that will eventually see us doing a hand stand against the pole... we start by swinging out legs up towards the top of the pole and tucking our head in and sliding down. I was able to do this ok, again because my friend taught me something similar We did a spin called the bullet, where we are curled round the pole and some dancy moves. The teacher got us to do some sassy moves so hopefully the routine will look awesome once finished!!

I can't wait for lesson 2!!

I am still trying to video my routine, its just not working how I wanted it to! But now he is back from New York I may be able to sort it out

 Comments

Lessons 5 & 6

So last night was lesson six of the level 2 course.

Lessons 5 and 6 were just general practice sessions as we had learnt all of the routine by week 4.

It was good, this level I have really felt that I have had a good exercise session by the end!

Last night, lesson 6, was the last in level 2 We all did a performance at the end (indiviually!!) of the routine and got presented with a certificate once we'd finished

We ended by doing a couple of level 3 moves, one which will eventually lead to hanging upside down

I have booked my level 3 course already It starts on the 1st June

I am now officially no longer a beginner but a pole dancer of intermediate standard <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">

 Comments

Lesson 4

In lesson 4 we learnt the last few moves of the routine! With more people back in the class this week we got the usual amount of time on the poles, as there were 3 groups. However the moves were quite hard I don't think I would have coped with any more time

We learnt one hold where we had legs in a triangle behind, hanging onto the pole with just hands, and there were 3 spins... well technically 2 but one spin changed into another which was quite hard!

We only have 2 lessons left then its onto level 3 and inverts

I want to practice this routine a bit but hopefully I'll manage to get it properly and maybe video it

 Comments

lesson 3

Lesson three last night was a hard one! We sould have 3 people per pole... so nine in a session but there were only 5 of us last night meaning we all got extra goes!

We did some pole conditioning (strengthening exercises), push ups (eeek!), 2 spins , something called a pole over (leg hooked round the pole and the rest of your body leaning away) and some floor work.

It was a really good session and I felt I had a really good workout! This routine will look really good once finished I think!

Lesson 4 we learn the last of the moves I think, so hopefully it will all pull together over the next few weeks and look good

 Comments

Level 2 Lessons 1 & 2

Ooh its been a while! I thought I should really write an update

So on 2nd April I had lesson one of my level 2 course. A few things were different to level on... I have a new teacher who is great, really friendly and seems to be quite a perfectionist! There are only 3 poles, with 9 in a class so its 3 to a pole! And the poles aren't spinny ones!

So in lesson one we learnt to climb the pole (both legs wrapped around the pole) stay on the pole without any hands, then slide down. The rest of the moves in lesson one were basically dance type steps... except the last one whcih was hanging onto the pole kicking each leg up, with both off the floor at one point. We also did quite a few strengthening exercises too. In my old class these were done right at the end but in lesson one the teacher incorporated it into the lesson so we were doing moves for the routine before and after! I found lesson one very very hard for some reason and felt a little out of my depth

We then had a weeks break for the Easter holidays!

Lesson 2 was last night and it was great! Our first move was another pole climb but this time our right legs were straight out front! And I was the only one who seemed to manage this first time and take my hands off <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0"> Great! We learnt one spin called the chair spin... both hands on the pole pushing your body away from it so it's not touching, the rest of your body is in a seated position (not the greatest of explanations sorry). Other moves involved as s slide (arched back against the pole sliding down it) a shoulder slide (legs and feet away from the pole, one shoulder resting on the pole, the shoulder slides down until they reach the floor, the rest of the body follows!) Next was the goddess position... from the shooulder slide you're lying on the floor ... you cross your legs and push up so you're leaning on your arms. The rest were dance type moves which I have forgotten the names of!

It was great, and I really enjoyed it last night. I even got the original pole climb that I had trouble with last time <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">

 Comments

X Pole Continued!

With the X Pole up at the weekend i managed to get some good practice in I practiced the spins ands then the whole routine. I even put on my heels with big platforms to have a go! I think I managed ok

I tried to film it at some point but I haven't found the perfect position for the phone/camera to be in

I tried out the spins and the invert my friend showed me a few weeks ago and was surprised I managed to hook my leg around the top of the pole so was inverted... yay!!

And no Nick, no falling on my head occured I didn't manage to grip the pole so stay in the position, my pole needs a proper clean before that will happen! I may invest in some liquid chalk to as I know that will help!

Naturally I was rather achey on Sunday, but not as much as U thought I would be!

With me worrying about potential damage to the ceiling, and the fact the big pole is a leetle in the way of the living room, the pole has come down til the weekend But it will be back and I shall attempt once again to make a video

I even managed to do the upside down move my friend showed me O have a feeling I didn't warm up enough though. Hmmm!

Anyhoo it's up and I can use it so I'm happy!!

I have just had all the info through and it looks like its being held in a gym rather than a little tiny "Gentlemans Club"

It doesn't start until the 2nd April but I am really looking forward to it already!!

I had a major scare over the X Pole on Friday. It seems that the place where its going to be put up doesn't have the joists in the right place!

however after looking at the Pole Dance Forum I joined, it seems like it should be ok to centre it over one single joist! Here's hoping anyway!

Having been away all weekend I didn't get the chance to put it up and try it out but I am in all next weekend so it'll go up then Can't wait <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">

We practiced spins, saw a performance by our instructor, performed in groups of 2 and 3 for her, got a certificate saying we finished, and had our pic taken for their archive! We also learnt the first move of level 2 which is climbing the pole

I did manage to stab my leg with my heel making it bleed though and scratch the other leg!

I am hoping to book level 2 starting the 2nd April. It's a class that starts at 7.45 but one of the other girls in my level 1 class says if we both book that we could always meet for coffee before

And my x pole arrived <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0"> I haven't had time to put it up yet though It'll probably be next weekend before I can play now I can't wait to get it put up and try more pole climbing and a few things my friend taught me <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">

This is my last lesson! I really have to book some level 2 ones soon

Its a bit sad to know that this is my last lesson for the moment, I have really enjoyed them

But, my X Pole arrived today so its definitely not the last time I'll be pole dancing <img src="/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif" alt=":>" class="middle" border="0">

It will be so great knowing that I won't have to wait a week before I can have a go on a pole again!

Also with the last lesson this Thursday and the next level not starting until the 30th of March, it means I don't have to have a break in poling at all

I hope to try out a few things I have seen and have another go of the things J taught me the other week including going upside down (or inverting as it is known!) I will have plenty of cushions around for that though

I will also be able to practice the routine I have learnt at my lessons, and who knows, I may be brave enough to video it and post it here if I think its gone well Thats the plan in any case!

So what do you think??

Eventually I am hoping to be good enough that I can get someone to tak some pics of me doing some moves that I can use in the design Hopefully I'll be able to get a few soon

Ah well at least I didn't pay the extra 10 quid for next day delivery

It will be up and in use by the weekend I am sure

It was good though and I am still loving it!! I am definitely going to have to sign up for level 2!

Anyway I think I have the routine memorised, and the small practice I had at my friends last weekend really helped, as I managed to get one of the spins I was struggling with!!

Next week we do our routine, our teacher performs for us, we get to have a free for all on the poles and a certificate saying we have finished

And I ordered my own X Pole on Friday <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0"> After using J's then goung back to the crappy poles we have our lessons on it just had to be done I sooooo can't wait for it to arrive Its just a shame I am supposed to be going to Wales this weekend

She has been taking Pole Dancing lessons for over a year now and her pole school were putting on a Cabaret on Saturday night. When I took up my lessons she invited me down! I obviously jumped at the chance because one, I haven't seen her in 10 years, 2, she is really good and I'd wanted to see her do it in real life rather than youtube, 3, Getting the chance to see what I possibly could do in the future is a good incentive to carry on and 4, she has an X Pole and offered to teach me to go upside down!!

So Down I went, we dressed up and went out to watch the show. It was great to see all the moves and the transitions and some were so amazing I can't wait to get that far!! Unfortunately the show went on a little too long!! You can have too much of a good thing SO we went home and went to bed

The next day we both had a go on her pole. She showed me a few things she was doing, I showed her my routine hesitantly as I couldn't remember it properly

She also showed me how to go upside down, to sit on the pole and how to do a couple of spins! It was really really good, I had so much fun and it didn't feel like we'd not seen eachother in 10 years

I ache today but it was good to be able to try things away from my class

And I now soooooo want an x pole even more!! Hers is so spinny I got a bit dizzy to begin with as I wasn't expecting it to spin that much I ache today but in a good way I think

 Comments

Lesson 4

Last night I learnt the last part to the routine With a couple more spins and some more twirly kind of steps! I think i may have to look for pictures to show what the moves look like as if I tell you I did the fireman, fish hook, backward hook and sunflower you'd have no clue what I meant

I may have a look at home to see if I can find some to demonstrate

I have achey thighs today and a bruise on my inner left arm

This weekend I am going to visit my mate and go to a Pole Cabaret whatever that may be!! Sounds fun though <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">

Lessons 5 and 6 will just be memorising and practicing the routine but should be fun anyway

Roll on Thursdays

 Comments

Lesson 3

Well despite the massive bruise I got on the back of my right thigh and the massive scratch on my left leg I am still loving it <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">

This time we I few dancy moves around the pole, one of which became a spin I had my right leg balanced on the pole and had to fall forward bringing my other leg up to look like I was sitting cross legged around the pole!! It was called the hook spin or the corkscrew. The teacher kept changing her mind

Next week we learn our last moves of level one, 2 of which are spins (spins are where you're hanging onto the pole, feet of the floor spinning round if you didn't guess ) one looks very hard But great!! For the following 2 weeks we will just be practicing the routine I thing I shall make a decision whether I really do want an X Pole before then!! I am thinking yes at the moment and want to book level 2 course asap

It was lucky we didn't do too many of things like the fish hook as at somepoint towards the beginning of the lesson I seem to have pulled a muscle in my arm

Hopefully it will get better for next week

I still think I need my own pole to practice on!!!!
